What you don’t see in this video is the breakdown.
This state I’ll never forget because I got one round into the workout, started my run, and just completely broke down.
I walked to the side of the building, tried to keep it together, but tears flowed down my face as I tried to catch my breath. J came over to see me and he said he never saw the scared look in my eyes like he did that day. I couldn’t breathe, panic was over my face and I looked at him as he held my hand.
I finally caught my breath and did one rep at a time, but it was 20-minute workout that took me 45+. It was not pretty.
In that moment I realized I needed to take care of myself and make some hard decisions about how I wanted the rest of the trip to go.
I’ll be honest, it wasn’t playing out how I hoped it would and a lot was weighing on me – donations weren’t coming in, it was more emotionally/mentally exhausting than physical, and it was a lot navigating changes, people, and trips.
I know to “let go of the outcome,” but when you plan something for 2+ years and put so much hard work into it, it’s hard when it’s not coming to fruition as I’d hope.
But in that moment I realized I needed to redirect the entire mission in the way that was my vision.
This quote was on the day we left for the trip, “It rarely feels like you’re making history.. when you’re making history.”
That rang true that day.
This is not for sympathy, but to show you the real, raw reality of going after a big dream that a lot don’t show.
Thank you all for your support – it means more to me than you know!
Keep going after your dreams… even in the moments like today.

Our BIG goal is to fund 10,000 girls for their programs.
It’s $100 to fund one girl for a 20-week ROX program. If this speaks to you please donate below! ✨
