Week 2… you tested me in more ways than I imagined since starting the trip.
I started out with a half-marathon on day 8 that tested my will to endure something that is NOT my zone of genius. By the end of it I was talking to myself to just put one foot in front of the other – runners I had mad respect for y’all.
Then, a few states later our brakes on the RV caught on fire after going down the #1 most dangerous road that you could go down for an RV (later to find that out). It was a God moment that we even made it out alive, but that threw a few wrenches into the route and plan.
We made it to Wyoming (which we were on our way to) for the 9/11 hike that was very impactful. We hiked up Snow King Mountain with a picture of someone that passed away during 9/11.
Then, we ended up needing to re-route a few states due to the brakes after. We re-routed Utah, which turned out to be amazing – who knew that shoving 5 people + 1 dog in a Bronco would be so fun. Then, we met the RV in Boise where the new brakes & rotors were put on and the band got back together to head to Nevada.
It’s been an accumulation of long, long drives and a few hiccups along the way. This upcoming week, week 3 is going to be the true test. It’s our longest stretch of the trip yet.
So far we’ve funded 49 girls for ROX programs. We had an anonymous donor match $500 if we could raise it in one night… AND WE DID IT! We are just getting started. Week 3… we are coming for you!
I created Mission48 where I compete in 48 fitness events in 48 states in 48 days to inspire women and young girls to step out of their comfort zone & build self-confidence. I partnered with Ruling Our eXperiences, a nonprofit that does 20-week programs in schools for young girls to help them build self-confidence, communicate better & build leaders. Our BIG goal is to fund 10,000 girls for their programs.
It’s $100 to fund one girl for a 20-week ROX program. If this speaks to you please donate below! ✨
